The Rally Catalunya Històric-Rally de les Caves, a regularity competition for classic vehicles on closed roads, includes several novelties this year, in its fourth edition. It will be staged on 28 and 29 February 2020, with start and finish in Barcelona and headquarters in Salou. The parc fermé will be set-up on the seafront promenade. The entering crews will have the chance to choose from taking part in both complete days or in a single day (the second) and, although the itinerary will be kept secret until the launch of the rally, on 26 February at the RACC headquarters, it has already been revealed that the route will include World Rally Championship stages used in the RallyRACC, a true highlight for a premium rally.
For this fourth edition, the RACC has established three participation modalities, which adapt to all types of participants: Premium, Basic and One-Day.
The Premium modality is the "all-included" option both for driver and co-driver. From the entry fees, the "en-route" lunch on both days, Blunik timekeeping and GPS tracking - services provided to all participants-, with a metal plate as a memento and exclusive jackets for the entered duo, as well as the accommodation and the dinner on the first day, Premium' as well, at Hotel Regente Aragón in Salou, offered by their Chef, who has been recently awarded with a Michelin Star for his restaurant Deliranto. On the last day, the closure dinner for all entered crews will be held at the Hotel Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona, where the prize-giving ceremony will put an end to this driving and gastronomy experience. The entry price for this option is 1,500 euros, with discounts if the participants are RACC members or have already taken part in this rally in the three previous years.
The modalities Basic and One-Day are new this year, and they have been conceived to offer a reduction on the cost of the entry, making it affordable for everyone. The Basic option neither includes the two-night accommodation nor the dinner on the first day and costs 1,000 . The One-Day option gives the chance to enjoy the event on one single day, Saturday 29, joining the rally on the Salou Promenade and finishing in Barcelona together with the other participants, taking part in the closure dinner and the prize-giving. One-Day entrants will pay an entry fee of 500 euros. The discounts for RACC members are applicable for the three modalities.
RallyRACC Stages
The itinerary of the 4th Rally Catalunya Històric will be kept as a secret until the day of the official launch, a few days before the start, but the RACC has already revealed some details. The headquarters will be located in Salou, just like at the RallyRACC, scoring round of the World Rally Championship, and the stages include a few stages that were part of the world championship round until 2019, which provides this edition with a special attractiveness.
The race will cover a total of 600 km, 150 km of which will be split into 14 regularity stages on closed roads, that will be distributed along the two mentioned days: two loops of three stages on the first day and two loops of four stages on the second.
The crews will start from Avenida de la Catedral in Barcelona at 12.30h on Friday 28 February, after the respective documentation checks and scrutineering, and arrive in Salou at 20.15h. The second day will start at 9.00h from the Salou seafront promenade and finish at 19.30h on Saturday 29 February at Hotel Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona, the venue of the closure dinner and the prize-giving. Participants who have chosen the One-Day modality may do the documentation check and the scrutineering on Friday on the Salou promenade or on Saturday just before the start.
In addition to choosing the entry modality, participants will also have to choose the category in which they want to take part in the rally: Super Sport regularity, with averages of up to 70 km/h, or Sport Regularity, with averages of up to 50 km/h, and choosing whether they prefer a high or low average. The high average will be compulsory for vehicles manufactured from 1962 and a cylinder capacity of more than 1300cc.
