Linear route as it used to be: 736 km and 15 different stages, two of them in a circuit
Barcelona, 26 January 2017. The 1st Rally Catalunya Històric Trofeu Dues Catalunyes continues with the preparation work, with huge expectations as regards participation, as more than 60% of the available spaces are already taken. The entry period will close on 7 February, which is the date on which the organiser shall announce the crews that will be fighting for the victory of the event which will mark the start of a new era in the field of regularity rallies for classic cars.
The official poster, which was made public today, shows what the Rally Catalunya Històric Trofeu Dues Catalunyes will offer to all participants: Exclusive cars, beauty on the road and the places they are going to visit and world championship organisation level, for a premium rally in which participants will be able to enjoy comfort and services made available by the Reial Automòbil Club de Catalunya (RACC): entry fees, accommodation, welcome buffet, lunches and dinners, luggage transport, gifts, official programme with all participants, metal plate for collectors, finisher trophy (just for finishing the rally, apart from any other prizes that may be achieved), and the timekeeping guarantee offered by Blunik Precision Chrono.
The 1st Rally Catalunya Històric Trofeu Dues Catalunyes, the first regularity event reserved for classic cars organised directly by the RACC, starts a history that has arrived to stay, to recall the history of the most important rally of the country, the Rallye Catalunya, created in 1957, which will be staged for the 53 time in 2017 as a scoring round towards the FIA World Rally Championship. The event does also want to recall the history of a peculiar event organised by the RACC, the Rallye de las Dos Cataluñas, staged between 1960 and 1965, with Barcelona and Perpignan as starting or arrival points.
This 1st Rally Catalunya Històric Trofeu Dues Catalunyes will be a linear event that will include all the ingredients, structure and guarantee that only the largest automobile club of the country can offer. The rally will have a total itinerary of 736.31 km, including 147.43 km of timed regularity sections, split into 15 stages, all of which will be different (no repeating), two of them on a racetrack, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya being the most emblematic of them. All of the stages will be run on closed roads, with average speeds of up to 55 km/h and two types of averages to choose from.
The start will be given on 24 February (15h) at Avinguda de la Catedral in Barcelona, with a neutralisation in Viladrau (19.42h) and finish of the leg in Santa Coloma de Farners (Hotel Mas Solà, ****), from 21.35h.
At 8 a.m. on Saturday, 25 February, the start will be given to the second leg, with destination Perpignan (13.06h), to restart at 14.36h after a regrouping and lunch, to continue to Parc del Forum in Barcelona, where the cars will be arriving from 20.45h onwards. The prize-giving ceremony will start at 22h at Hotel SB Diagonal Zero (****).
The Supplementary Regulations are available at www.rallycatalunyahistoric.com, a document that includes complete information for participants. However, the specific itinerary and the regularity stages, all on closed road, will not be revealed until 22 February, the day of the official presentation of the event.
